Cooking is fun, but sometimes I'm an idiot and do the same thing over and over (and expect different results). I'm cooking a chicken in the crock pot, been in there over an hour, and I don't even see any steam on the pot. It'll take forever (no real surprise, it always does).
Made a lamb stew, though. Mmmm.. Celerac (celery root), parsnips, carrots, onions and turnips. Oh, and barley, lamb and beef better than bullion. Tastes nummmy. Goes exceptionally well with a tablespoon of sour cream stirred in. It was loosely based on this recipe (loosly, because I was thinking of this one which I enjoyed before, but couldn't remember any of the ingredients). http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Lamb-and-Winter-Vegetable-Stew/Detail.aspx
Also, got a 'gift set' of 2 packs of no-bake cheesecake, and some ceramic tubs to pour them into. I have no idea how they'll turn out, but at least I had fun trying (and licking out the bowl).
So, now I just have to wait (and wait) for the chicken to cook.. I guess keeping it in the crock pot till I wake up would technically work.. Since I wake up at noon on the weekends, I should probably try something else..
Hmm.. and I just realized something.. I broke a button off of the watch I normally wear, so I put on a replacement. It's an hour later than the real time. Its time never changed. It's not nearly as late as I thought it was! Waiting for the chicken won't be so painful.
