I haven't really figured out who I want to vote for president. McCain is off the list for a few reasons, mostly Palin. She was a really stupid decision, and I don't think stupid decisions are good for presidents, nor Palin. Obama is fine, but I've gotten so much junk from the Democrats (and all the ones that I noticed had some trash talk about McCain) that it turns my stomach to vote for the same crap.

I figure I'd either try Bob (L) or Ralph (G). Then, I get concerned that Pennsyltucky is one of those "undecided" states. Sure, it leans towards Obama, but it still could go either way.

I'm sick to death of the 2 party system. It's a failed system. We get our "choice" of two candidates. Both of the major parties are so full of corruption. Politics should have nothing to do with money. Hell, even the way laws are passed is disgusting. Tacking on a bunch of expensive pet bills to things that are important. Our country is seriously in debt. Neither major candidate is talking about how to tighten our belts. I don't think we can afford either as president.

This is my gripe with the US election system.

All offices should be limited to one term. You can run a second time for the same office if you like, but you cannot hold any office for two consecutive terms. You must sit out at least one term in between. This way, office holders will do what needs to be done for the good of the people, not what needs to be done to get reelected. It would also eliminate, for example, the idea of any one member of Congress from having more "power" through seniority than any other member from any other state. Everyone would be on equal footing.

No mixing of topics in bills to pass new laws. One bill, one topic. Any amendments MUST be related to the main portion of the bill. My state actually already has this law on a state government level...it eliminates a whole lot of sneakiness and bullshit.

All political parties should be done away with, at least as far as elections are concerned.

All campaigns should be publicly financed. Everyone gets the same amount of money to spend. No accepting of campaign contributions of any kind. If you run out of money, too bad. Specific blocks of time should be given to each candidate on all TV networks. Once you use up your time, you're done, just like with the money.

I can probably think of more, but these would be a good start.

Nader's an (I) this time around. Rep. Cynthia McKinney -- not on the PA ballot -- is the Green nominee.

Personally, I'd have to say voting for any third party is preferable to voting for any major party candidate. If we have to be ruled by one jackbooted fascist or the other, at least I don't have to vote them into the boots...
